Skip to content At Children’s House Nursery in Southwell we are very lucky to have a separate Under 3’s Unit where we provide quality childcare for babies, aged from birth to 18 months and toddlers (aged between about 18 months and 3 years).
Your child can safely learn to crawl, stand and walk in areas appropriate to their learning, with lots of time for hugs and stories on laps. It’s so important to get those cuddles.
Your child will spend time either in the baby area or toddler areas and at times the children mix together. We also offer sibling time for children with older brothers and sisters at the nursery.
Your child can rest quietly and safely in our sleep/rest room which enables your child’s daily routine to be mirrored at nursery, aiding a smooth transition between home and nursery. Your child will be carefully monitored by staff.
Our separate sleep/resting area is away from the noise and distraction of the other children and activities.
Your child will be cared for by our friendly and dedicated team, with a vast amount of experience, both as parents themselves and as childcare practitioners.
Staff are trained to develop a stimulating environment that will help your child to flourish and grow.
They will help your child learn, using teaching methods specially designed for children under three years old, to ensure all areas of their development are encouraged.
Your child will be allocated a key person when they first start at Children’s House Nursery. This member of the nursery team will be your main point of contact and will be the person your child first creates a strong attachment with at nursery. We try and get this right but sometimes your child attaches to a different member of staff – so we change to ensure the right support is given to your child.
The key worker is responsible for ensuring your child meets age-related standards set by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework (in respect of learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old). All schools and Ofsted-registered Early Years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, pre-schools, nurseries and school reception classes.
Please don’t be disappointed if you child doesn’t end up with a finished product. They certainly won’t be bringing home a perfect piece of art. That’s not what we value – we value the experience.
The most important thing is for them to explore their creative self.
Our ethos is for a process versus product approach to creative activities, we don’t believe in all children taking home a perfect piece of Art that was produced by a lot of adult input.
